    Sansara-Dava-Nala-Daha-Niram, Sammoha-Dhuli-Harane Samiram. Maya-Rasa-Darana-Sara-Siram, Namami Viram Giri-Sara-Dhiram.

Water for the burning of the wildfire of worldly life, wind that sweeps away the dust of delusion, a sharp plough that breaks open the earth of deceit: I bow to Vira, steady as the greatest of mountains.

    Bhava-Vanama-Sura-Danava-Manavena, Chula-Vilola-Kamala-Vali-Malitani. Sampurita-Bhinata-Loka-Samihitani, Kamam Namami Jinaraja-Padani Tani.

Bowed to with devotion by gods, demons and humans, garlanded by the rows of lotuses swaying on their crowns, fulfilling the wishes of all who bow before them: those feet of the kings of Jinas I bow to with all my heart.

    Bodhagadham Supada-Padavi-Nira-Purabhiramam, Jiva-Himsa-Virala-Lahari-Sangama-Gaha-Deham. Chula-Velam Guru-Gama-Mani-Sankulam Dura-Param, Saram-Vira-Gama-Jala-Nidhim Sadaram Sadhu Seve.

Unfathomable in knowledge, lovely with a flood of water that is its well-formed words, its body hard to enter for the unbroken waves of non-violence to living beings, its tide the chulikas, full of jewels that are its great passages, its far shore distant: this excellent ocean of Vira's Agam I serve well, with reverence.

    Amula-Lola-Dhuli-Bahula-Pari-Mala-Lidha-Lolali-Mala- Jhankara-Rava-Sara-Mala-Dala-Kamala-Gara-Bhumi-Nivase! Chhaya-Sambhara-Sare! Vara-Kamala-Kare! Tara-Harabhirame! Vani-Sandoha-Dehe! Bhava-Viraha-Varam Dehi Me Devi! Saram.

Where swarms of restless bees, feeding on fragrance thick with pollen that sways from the very root, fill the air with humming, you dwell on a lotus of spotless petals. Rich in radiance, a fine lotus in your hand, lovely with shining necklaces, your body made of all speech: O goddess, grant me the best boon, freedom from worldly birth.

About Sansar Davanal Stuti

Four stutis in one: the first to Mahavir Swami, the second to all the Jinas, the third to the Agam and the fourth to Shrutdevi, the goddess of learning. The language is traditionally described as reading as both Sanskrit and Prakrit. In the Shwetambar pratikraman, women recite it in place of the Namostu Vardhamanaya stuti. Tradition holds that Haribhadrasuri could not finish the fourth verse and the sangh completed it, which is why the sangh recites its last three lines aloud together. Bhava-viraha in the final line echoes viraha, the word Haribhadrasuri used to sign his works. Hyphens follow the recitation pauses printed in pratikraman books, not word boundaries.
